Absa Internship Programs 

Absa offers several internship programs to help build the future of young people. These programs last 12 to 18 months.

SAICA Trainee Accountant Program

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) program is designed to give the selected trainees the appropriate experience and skills required to qualify as Chartered Accountants after three years. Trainees rotate into different bank sections every six months, providing enough knowledge and training.

If you are currently enrolled in an Honors degree in the Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA), you can apply for the program.

What are the Requirements for the SAICA Trainee Accountant Program?

To qualify for the SAICA Trainee Accountant Program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a nationality in South Africa
  • Must have an aggregate of at least 55%
  • Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent
  • Complete their qualification on or before March 30
  • Have a qualification in Accounting and Auditing
  • Have full-time work experience
  • Have no more than 25 months of experience

CIMA Trainee Accountant Program

The Absa Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) program is designed to equip our selected trainees with the necessary experience and competencies to qualify as Chartered Accountants after three years. Trainees rotate into different bank sections every six months, providing enough experience and training.

You can apply for the program if you are enrolled for an Honours degree (or higher) in Financial Management that will provide you with exemptions for the CIMA Managerial level (objective tests P2, F2 & E2).

What are the Requirements for the CIMA Trainee Accountant Program?

To qualify for the CIMA Trainee Accountant Program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a nationality in South Africa
  • Must have an aggregate of at least 55%
  • Must have at least an Honour’s Degree or its equivalent
  • Complete their qualification on or before March 30
  • Have a qualification in Accounting and Auditing or Finance
  • Have full-time work experience
  • Have no more than 25 months of experience
