About the Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army (NA), founded in 1956, is the Nigerian Armed Forces’ land force. The Nigerian Army Council (NAC) governs it. The Chief of Army Staff is the Nigerian Army’s highest-ranked military official.

The Nigerian Army welcomes interested candidates who wish to serve their country to apply. 

Is the Army Recruitment Ongoing?

Yes. The Nigerian Army recruitment portal is accepting applications. Interested applicants can apply using the recruitment application guide given below.

Army Application Requirements

To qualify for the Army recruitment program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicant must be single
  • Nigerian citizen by birth
  • Have National Identity Card/NIN or BVN
  • Must be free of any criminal conviction by the court of law
  • Applicants must have a valid birth certificate/age declaration that has been approved by the National Population Commission, a hospital, or a local government council.
  • Have a valid certificate of state of origin
  • Applicants must not be less than 1.68 meters and 1.65 meters tall for male and female candidates respectively.
  • Non-trades applicants must be at least 18 years old and no older than 22 years old, while trades applicants must be no older than 26 years old as of April 31, 2023.
  • Possess at least a minimum of 4 passes in not more than two sittings in WASCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB. 
  • In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants for tradesmen/women must have a Trade Test/City Guild Certificate.

How to Apply for the Nigerian Army Recruitment

Applications are ongoing through the Regular Recruit Intake. Follow this guide to apply via the 85RRI:

  1. Apply online via the Nigerian Army Recruitment Portal.
  2. Log in with your username and password. (create an account if you are a new user).
  3. Fill out the application form and submit it.
  4. Print out a copy.
  5. Then, print and complete the Guarantor Form as appropriate.
  6. Bring copies of the Application Form and guarantor forms with you to the specified state recruitment facilities.

Recruitment Procedure

  1. Candidates should be aware that there will be no computer-based pre-selection test.
  2. There is no special recruitment center.
  3. There will be no Zonal Screening Exercise 
  4. All screening of potential recruits will take place in the candidates’ home state.
  5. No candidate should bring electronic or recording devices to the State Recruitment Exercise.
  6. Candidates must also follow COVID-19 protocols, which include frequent hand washing, wearing a face mask, and keeping a physical distance.
  7. Any candidate who falsifies or forges his/her results and is detected doing so even while training at Depot NA will be removed from training.
  8. Candidates should bring a printout of their BVN.
  9. Candidates should not make any type of payment or incentive to any individual or group of people in order to aid them in the recruiting process.
  10. The names of shortlisted candidates for screening will be available on the NA website for the benefit of all candidates.
  11. Shortlisted candidates must report to their respective places of origin for the screening process between May 2 and May 17.
