What is the Generation Google Scholarship?

The Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Computer Science was created to help students who want computer science degrees become technology leaders.

The depth of each applicant’s dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, innovation, and academic performance will determine which candidates get the scholarship award.

How Much is the Generation Google Scholarship?

For the next academic year, chosen students will receive a reward of $1,000. Qualified applicants must use the scholarship award to pay for the student’s university tuition, fees, books, supplies, and other necessities for their classes.

Who is Eligible for the Generation Google Scholarship Award?

Google encourages women interested in computer science and meets the program’s minimum requirements to apply.

To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must:

• Be presently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s program for the current academic year.
• When finishing the scholarship program, enroll in your second year of studies at an accredited university in Asia Pacific.
• Be enrolled in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical subject.
• Have a solid academic history.
• Show initiative and a desire to make marginalized groups more visible in computer science and technology.

What are the Required Documents?

To complete your application, you must submit the following documents:

1. Resume or CV
2. Academic transcripts from your current and previous institutions (if you have earned a degree)
3. Two short essays to evaluate your dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as your level of financial need. Here are the essay questions:
   1. What is a significant challenge that you believe women in the tech industry face, and how do you see yourself being part of the solution(s) to this challenge? Remember that impact can happen in many ways and at different scales.
   2. What impact would receiving this scholarship have on your education? Describe any circumstances affecting your need for a scholarship and what educational goals this scholarship will enable you to accomplish.

How to Apply for Generation Google Scholarship

Follow these guidelines to apply for the scholarship program:

1. Go to the Build Your Future With Google website.
2. Click on Scholarships.
3. Select Generation Google Scholarship.
4. Follow the guide to apply.

Selection Criteria

Students will qualify based on how good their essays and other materials are. Also, shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation for a 15-minute “meet and greet” and participate in the Google Online Challenge. 

After the selection of qualified applicants, their enrollment will be confirmed. They will immediately receive the scholarship money in their student account to pay for tuition and other school-related costs. When is the Scholarship Closing Date?

Applications for the Generation Google Scholarship open in the first quarter of every year. Interested applicants must apply before the application closing date.
