About the Lim Kim San Memorial Scholarship
The Singapore Press Holdings Foundation funds the Lim Kim San Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship program was founded in January 2003 at the late Mr. Lim Kim San’s recommendation.
Subject to the Foundation’s compliance with Endowment Rules, Institution of a Public Character (IPC) Operating Rules, and other requirements, the grant of awards, scholarships, and bursaries to the public is within the objects of the Foundation, allowing them to be administered as part of the Foundation’s activities.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?
The Lim Kim Scholarship provides funding for the following:
- Complete course costs, including tuition and assessments
- A yearly living allowance of S$2,000.
- An annual book allowance of $300
Also, the scholarship provides internship opportunities at SPH Media for successful scholarship recipients upon request, and if there are suitable vacancies.
Who is Eligible for the Lim Kim San Memorial Scholarship?
To qualify for the scholarship program, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
- The scholarship is open to Singaporeans with a monthly family income of S$5,000 or less.
- Successful completion of annual examinations at regional universities, or,
- Successful completion of GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ level/polytechnic examinations
- Recurring success in extracurricular activities
- Successful scholarship recipients must give back to society both during and after their studies by volunteering or doing community work.

Approval Process
No scholarship will be given out unless the selection committee determines that there are candidates who have demonstrated enough merit. If the Foundation determines that the scholar’s conduct or performance has not been sufficient, it reserves the right to remove or suspend the scholarship at any time.
